AREA recognises Asian businesses that go beyond standard business operations, with a determination to fulfil its responsibilities to its internal and external environment.
Centred on four key pillars - Environment, Community, People and Fair Practices – AREA incorporates six award categories. These include the Green Leadership Award, Investment in People Award, Health Promotion Award, Social Empowerment Award, SME CSR Award, and the Responsible Business Leadership Award.
The highly esteemed Green Leadership Award bears testament to Ricoh's status as a leader in green practices with its relentless pursuit and commitment towards incorporating sustainable programs and strategies within its business processes.
Now in its eighth year running, AREA 2015 received o ver 300 submissions from 28 countries across Asia . Finalists for the Green Leadership Award were audited and evaluated by a panel of highly distinguished judges based on five criteria: Results, Innovation, Solution-Orientated, Integration, and Sustainability.
The award lauds the leader in total office and business solutions for its “Much About Mangroves” programme. Since its inception in 2011, the programme has seen over 160 Ricoh staff and client volunteers harness their energy collectively to restore and plant mangrove saplings around the Kuala Selangor Nature Park (KSNP). A part of Ricoh's Corporate Social Responsibility practices, the initiative educates and spurs not only employees and clients, but also members of the public and society and large.

The brand has also earned the Prime assessment in the oekom sustainability ratings and achieved Silver Class in the sustainability ratings of RobecoSAM.
Ricoh is constantly innovating and developing new sustainable products and solutions. In recent years, the brand has earned industry recognition for its first battery-driven Geljet 4-in-1 Multifunction Printer (MFP) – the SG 3120B SFNw. The MFP is produced from plant-based recyclable plastic – polyactic acid (PLA). It also incorporates the MP C2003SP &and C2503SP technology - a first in MFP technology with in-built ‘Stapleless' Stapler functions.
