INTI to enjoy RM1.1 million Savings from Partnership
Kuala Lumpur, 10 February 2010 – Ricoh Malaysia and INTI Education Group have further strengthened their strategic alliance by inking a deal that gives Ricoh exclusive rights for latter’s print services. Under the terms of the Managed Print Services agreement signed today, Ricoh will manage the print services of the education group using cutting-edge printing technology and document management solutions, which will in turn result in some RM1.1 million cost savings for INTI.
By appointing Ricoh as a strategic partner, INTI will extend and expand its use of Ricoh’s print and document management devices and solutions to its facilities within the entire education group. INTI will use Ricoh’s devices and solutions exclusively, achieving a more streamlined and cost-effective environment, compared to the current system and equipment. This is in line with INTI’s efforts in pioneering efficiency to become a ‘green’ organization, which is part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and adhere to policies mapped out by the government for institutions of higher learning.
Managing Director of Ricoh (M) Sdn Bhd Mr Lim Eng Weng, said that the agreement to manage INTI’s document and printing needs is a testimony of Ricoh’s pledge to fully support their esteemed partner, to provide value-added services in line with the organisation’s commitment towards creating mutually beneficial alliances, as well as exercising its responsibility as a corporate citizen.
He said: “Ricoh’s devices and solutions will benefit INTI with a significant reduction in terms of wastage, downtime, maintenance and electricity cost. By using Ricoh’s specialised solutions, INTI will be able to monitor their document production activity and control cost. Thus, INTI’s current administrative cost of maintaining the assortment of devices from various vendors can be further reduced with the appointment of Ricoh as their exclusive partner.”
Meanwhile, CEO of Laureate Malaysia and Deputy CEO of the INTI Education Group, Mr Graham Doxey said that 21st Century Technology is one of the pillars of the education Group’s brand promise.
“We are constantly seeking ways in which we can offer better technological solutions to our student population, as new technologies means greater efficiency and higher productivity. Present day students expect the best solutions from their education providers and as an agile and responsive organization, we want to always be one step ahead of our students’ needs,” he said.
“We have embarked on many initiatives to offer a new learning experience for all our students. This has ranged from enterprise quality connectivity, laptops at discounted rates, and the latest technological solutions. More efficient systems also means reducing our carbon foot-print, which is a key area of focus across all INTI campuses.”
An analysis of INTI’s present electricity consumption and environmental impact of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission shows that Ricoh’s solutions will cut utility cost and CO2 emission by half. INTI will enjoy approximately RM1.1 million savings over five years from document operation and administrative cost, maintenance services, rental and utilities and energy consumption.
Ricoh’s print services will provide back-up units to all INTI branches to reduce downtime in the event of unexpected problems, manage the entire fleet, and monitor the status of all the devices. This will help INTI to save close to 10 per cent on maintenance and servicing cost.
With Ricoh handling the print services, time spent by INTI staff on troubleshooting printer problems will be down to a minimum, thus enabling them to be more focused and productive in their jobs. This will help INTI staff achieve up to 90 per cent efficiency and reduce overall administrative cost.
Ricoh’s solutions provide a transparent view of the group’s document production cost by monitoring every single document printing activity. It also provides flexibility for staff as print jobs can be routed to any printer of their choice within INTI’s campuses. In addition, there will be solutions that enable INTI’s staff and lecturers to convert hardcopy documents into digital formats, allowing ease of storage, retrieval, editing and distribution.
Early last year, Ricoh partnered INTI to set up an RM800,000 e-Resource Centre to provide students with a real-life business environment, offering corporate experiential learning opportunities within the campus. The centre, located at the INTIUniversityCollege campus in Putra Nilai, is equipped with Ricoh’s latest multi-functional printers, software services, workflow applications and network connectivity accessible through the Internet.
