The Games We Used to Make & Play


Ricoh and MIM Launches a Book of our Past for the Youth of our Future

Kuala Lumpur, 11 August 2009 - Malaysia Institute of Management a leader in the human capital development and Ricoh a premier leader in the document management solution business collaboratively produced and launched an interesting and nostalgic book titled "Games We Used to Make & Play" that documents the traditional games and pastimes played by Malaysian youngsters since Merdeka in 1957 and beyond.

The book launch ceremony was officiated by YABhg Tun Haji Mohammed Hanif Omar, President of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) witnessed by Mr Lim Eng Weng, Managing Director of Ricoh Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Dr Wilson Tay, CEO of Malaysian Institute of Management today at the MIM Auditorium, Management House located at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

"Games are an effective and potent tool to develop individuals who can think creatively and resourcefully on their feet whether in the boardroom or out of it. And one of MIM's stated values is to create an organisation that is continuously learning by 'promoting personal mastery, team learning, best practices, shared vision and adopting a system approach for continuous improvement'. It also aims to encourage team collaboration, knowledge sharing, develop an open culture and targets high performance among other lofty aims." said by Dr Wilson Tay in his welcome address.

The games of yesteryears as captured in book also incorporate values that MIM is so keen to promote, such as teamwork, unified team spirit, open acceptance of diverse cultures and the widespread genuine warmth of human friendship.

"Ricoh's participation is an intrinsic part of the Group's corporate social responsibility slogan that aims to 'Foster attitudes and actions that value human beings and the Earth'. Playing games, especially traditional ones, can help to break down the barriers of communication, foster great team spirit, spark community sharing, and develop friendships that can stand the test of time," said by Mr Lim Eng Weng in his speech.

"This book is unique to us because it truly represents what Ricoh's digital printing technology and solutions are all about. Print On-Demand allows our customers to print and publish what they need, from one to 1,000 books, all at the same cost and this can be done via the web," added Mr Lim.

The book "Games We Used to Make & Play" epitomises Ricoh's print-on-demand solutions and technology designed primarily to make one's dreams, creative ideas and vibrant imagination come to fruition in a truly tangible way.

Published by MIM, the book will be produced using RICOH Pro C900 technology. It is available for sale at RM30 per copy, the sale proceed will be contributed towards MIM Management Research Fund.
