Ricoh Italia recognized at Ecohitech Award 2003
Ricoh Italia Spa (RIT) was honoured with a Special Mention at Italy's sixth annual Ecohitech Award 2003 in Milan on November 10.
The award recognizes companies that develop outstanding products, processes or services using technologies that respect the environment. It is sponsored by WWF Italia, the Italian Ministries of the Environment and of Industry, and organized by Ecoqual'IT, the National Voluntary Consortium for quality production, usage, recycling and disposal of supply materials, accessories, and IT hardware. RIT is a founding member of the consortium.
Ecohitech commended RIT for its collection system for old machines and discarded toner cartridges that uses channels customized to the unique needs of each company.
RIT also promotes "micro-collection" of electric devices at clients, and co-operates in the Ecoqual'IT "Eco-Dealer" project through training and qualification activities for its sales and technical support forces.
In addition, all employees actively participate in environmental preservation efforts within the company through frequent environment-related informatoin and training activities. One outgrowth of this has been a great increase in differentiatied waste collection in all RIT's offices in Milan, Verona, and Rome.
